I often find myself listening to conversations of individuals who call me and have to wonder, why do we line ourselves up for defeat? We call these prayer lines asking for guidance and asking for financial assistance and yet we fail to follow God's Word and do what it says. Man is the one that unfortunately fails us in the end, not God. In James 1:5, it is written pretty wisely that if you lack wisdom and understanding, ask God and He will give it to you. So why do we worry so full of anxiety? Why do we go into panic mode when we receive news that is so unsettling?
The solution is found in Philippians 4:4-7. "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." God's choice for you is to rely on Him. If you are having money problems and can't seem to find out what is wrong, ask God to show you the answer. Is it going to happen automatically, maybe. If not, then pray. The worse that could happen is that God makes another way. I can attest to this by what has been going on in my life. Soon, I will be a daddy. I will have to care for not just my wife, but for another living being. Also, my wife is going to stay home for several months and quite possibly permanently. What does the flesh want us to do? What does Satan want us to do? Worry. Who's going to pay what? Who is going to take care of this and that? What if the car breaks down? What if the air conditioner goes out? Quite simply my wife and I both prayed that if God wants this all to happen, He will have to make a way because His word says that "The Lord shall supply all your needs in accordance to His riches and glory thought Christ Jesus." In Psalms 89 it says that God can not lie about what He promises so we stand on that those promises knowing that God will take care of it. Now, let me tell you the balance. Don't throw your hands up and say well God's got it so I don't have to do anything because that's not Biblical. God's word tells us that if you don't work , you don't eat. So there is no prosperity gospel being taught here other than you can prosper if you follow God's word. Worrying is not following God's word, my friend. In Matthew 6, Jesus actually says that it will only take away from your life and "add no measure to it." So where are you in your worry meter? Do you have the Piglet mentality where the glass is half empty if not always tipped over because of nature? Or are you standing on the promises that God's word has for you? Be not worried my friend. God says that He has "not left you nor forsaken you."
