Finally home. It's a thought that so many of us have in life as we end our journey. Sara, Olivia, and I headed home from the hospital this morning and it was a bittersweet moment from us. As we headed home, it seemed to take forever. There were so many bumps along the way, some turns, some stop lights, and many things that held us up. When we arrived home, we found ourselves overjoyed because we finally arrived at our goal. We finally made it home.
As you and I go on our Christian walk, we have a goal in mind. The final goal is the prize in which Christ Jesus has promised to us through the Word of God. In Philippians 3:14, Paul wrote "I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven." I like this version because Paul didn't say he merely beat the opponent. He didn't say he raced without breaking a sweat. He said he strained. The Christian walk, the true Christian walk, is not easy. It is not easy saying no to certain lifestyles. It is not easy saying no to people who want to be your friend but do not have you best interest at heart. But in the end, the prize will far outweigh what we could ever hope or even dream.
Our dream, our goal, our vision is to win that prize in which Christ has promised. What is yours?
